Interior signage

Interior, ADA, and wayfinding signs

Inside the building, signs have to work as navigation and as brand. Artiplex builds lobby logos, directories, ADA room identification, and wayfinding systems for Central Ohio offices, clinics, schools, and public spaces.

ADA room signs need tactile characters and Grade 2 braille with the right contrast and mounting height. We fabricate those to spec so inspections are not a surprise at the end of a build-out.

Wayfinding and lobby pieces can be dimensional letters, acrylic, or mixed materials cut on our CNC and laser equipment. When a project also needs exterior letters or a monument, interior and exterior stay on one design path.

How an interior sign job works

  1. 01

    Survey

We start from the room list, the corridor plan, and photos of the walls. ADA room signs wait on final names and numbers. A lobby logo can move on a different clock from those plaques.

  2. 02

    Proof

You see layouts for the room signs, the directory, and any dimensional lobby piece before we cut. Contrast, character size, and mounting height are part of that drawing for tactile signs.

  3. 03

    Fabricate

Tactile characters, Grade 2 braille, acrylic, and dimensional letters are cut in-house on CNC and laser equipment.

  4. 04

    Install

Room signs go on the latch side at the height the rule expects, once the names are final. A lobby piece is a separate install from those plaques.

Interior sign options

  • ADA room identification

Tactile characters and Grade 2 braille, with contrast and mounting height taken from the accessibility rule — not from a logo on the reception wall.

  • Directories and wayfinding

Department signs, corridor arrows, and a directory that matches the room list. These are fabricated or printed pieces, not a digital screen system.

  • Lobby logos and dimensional letters

Cut acrylic or dimensional letters for a reception wall. Brand, not navigation. They should not replace required room identification.

What is included

  • ADA-compliant tactile and braille room identification

FAQ

Interior and ADA sign questions

Do small suites still need ADA room signs?
Room identification that is required to be accessible needs tactile characters and Grade 2 braille, including in a small suite, when those rooms are on the accessible route. A logo on the lobby wall does not satisfy that. We fabricate the plaques to that spec. We are not the inspector.
What if the room names are not final?
We can quote the lobby and the directory from the plan. We hold ADA room signs until names and numbers are final. Cutting them early means paying to cut them again.
Is an interior sign a Columbus graphics permit?
Interior ADA plaques and lobby letters are not the City of Columbus exterior graphics permit. A matching set of letters on the outside of the building can be. See the Columbus sign permit decoder for exterior filings. We do not publish fees.
Can interior signs match our exterior letters?
Yes. The same files and type style can run through one design path. The products are still different: a tactile plaque is not a channel letter, and a lobby logo is not a raceway.
How do we request an interior sign quote?
Use the quote form, call 614-706-6706, or email henry@artiplexsigns.com. Include the city, a room list if you have one, and whether you need ADA plaques, a directory, or a lobby logo. There is no public storefront.
